Math: Continuing to work on adding and subtracting numbers up to 20, playing partner games to build our fact fluency, working on understanding and solving story problems
Reading: Practicing strategies to help decode unknown words, building reading stamina, partner reading, working in reading groups to build both decoding and comprehension when reading
*Please have your child read and return their leveled book every day! The more they practice reading, the stronger their skills will be!!!
Writing: Just finished our narrative writing unit and published our first story in first grade, shared our published stories with Mrs. Hunn's Kindergarten class, will be beginning our next unit about non-fiction tomorrow. Your child may bring home some narrative stories that they wrote but did not publish. If they do, ask them to share a few with you!
Social Studies: Have just a few days left in our Families Now and Families Long Ago unit. The children have learned about the Pilgrims coming to America and the Native Americans who helped many of the Pilgrims survive.
