Curriculum Update

Word Work for this Week:

Spelling patterns: - ent (ex: went, spent, inventor)

                            - est (ex: best, chest, request)

Accountable words: am, did

Math:

This week we will be working on subtraction strategies, and solving word problem with facts to 20.  We will also start our new Topic 5 unit called Work with Addition and Subtraction Equations.

Writing:

In writing this week we will finish up publishing our narrative writing story and then start our new unit on Nonfiction Chapter Books.  In this unit of writing your child will be writing about a topic to teach us about something they know or want us to know about.   

Social Studies:

We will continue to talk about the holiday Thanksgiving.  In our talks we will discuss pilgrim life, Wampanoag indians and Squanto.

Reading:

We will finish up our unit on Word Detectives and start our new unit on Nonfiction Reading.  This will tie together with our nonfiction writing unit.
