Curriculum Update

This Week’s News   

Word Work for this Week:

Spelling patterns: - in (ex: pin, grin, finish)

                            - it (ex: hit, spit, sitter)

Accountable words: will, if

Math:

We will finish up Topic 5 called Work with Addition and Subtraction Equations.  After completing Topic 5 we will take the Unit assessment over Topics 1 - 5 at the end of the week.

Writing:

In writing this week we start our new unit called Non Fiction Chapter Books.  In this unit your child will write many teaching books about many different topics. The unit also teaches them to tell across their fingers,use illustrations to teach, and then write about their topic.   

Social Studies:

We will finish up our unit on Thanksgiving this week and then we will start our new unit in Science next week.

Reading:

We finished up our unit on Word Detectives last week and this week we start our new unit on Nonfiction Reading.  This will tie together with our nonfiction writing unit.      

Things to know:

• Continue to read for your Six Flags Ticket.  In order to receive a Six Flags ticket your child will need to read six hours and complete the form.  Reading Logs are due February 2!
